Miolans Castle

The Château de Miolans is an old fortified castle built in the 11th century in the Combe de Savoie at the gateway to the Maurienne and Tarentais valleys.

It constitutes the center of the seigniory then of the barony of Miolans, as well as of a Savoyard châtellenie from the XIVth century. The castle was a prison from 1564 to 1792.

The castle is the subject of a classification as historic monuments by decree of May 16, 1944 and it is, since 1997, integrated into a thematic route of discoveries, Pierres-forts de Savoie.
